El Taller del Predicador : lectura y escritura en el sermón barroco

  • António Castillo Gómez

In this article I want to study the baroque sermon in its relation with writing and reading. Although the last result was, fundamentally, an oral and gestual event, at the time of writing the sermons the sacred oratory manuals recommended that people followed different guidelines. Also the manuals insisted in the formation and the study of the preachers on proposing a reading activity based in a certain canon of books presided by the Sacred Scriptures and in a practice of reading associated
to the writing whose principle was the common places notebook. The writing and reading were thus essential tools in the factory of the good preacher and were necessary for the sermon was able to teach, to delight and to persuade the faithfuls.
