Declaração sobre uso de IA

Sociologia: Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto recognises that Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including writing support systems, data analysis and linguistic review, can currently be used as aids in the process of scientific production. However, where such tools are used, their application must comply with the fundamental principles of ethics, transparency, intellectual responsibility and scientific integrity.

Sociologia: Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto adopts an approach based on the responsible use of AI, in accordance with international standarts of good editorial practice. Accordingly, whenever AI tools are used in the manuscript preparation process, including support for textual rewriting, linguistic editing, data analysis or image generation, authors must explicitly declare such use at the time of submission, via the Declaration of Use of Artificial Intelligence, available in the Instructions for Authors.

The journal reserves the right not to accept articles whose content has been written exclusively using AI.

All articles submitted to Sociologia: Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto are assessed solely on the basis of their scientific quality, originality, relevance and methodological rigour, through a double-blind peer review process.

Failure to submit the declaration regarding the use of AI at the time of the manuscript's submission constitutes grounds for the manuscript’s rejection or for a request for clarification during the editorial process.

AI does not replace the intellectual, critical and scientific responsibility of the authors, who remain fully responsible for the content submitted; they must therefore ensure the accuracy, originality, precision and integrity of the data presented, as well as the correct attribution of sources and respect for copyright. The use of AI does not exempt authors from complying with the journal’s ethical standards, particularly with regard to plagiarism, authorship, data manipulation and the originality of the work.
