The Informal Caregiver Statute
an analysis within the scope of Public Policy

The Informal Caregivers Statute law was approved after a long and complex political decision process in which social movements had an essential role. This article aims to mobilize Public Political’s models and theories to analyze this political decision process, in order to understand how a problem usually associated to the familiar sphere won space in the political agenda and became itself into a political problem. The article begins by problematizing informal care from a sociological perspective, seeking to identify the key issues associated with the phenomenon. It aims to determine whether the creation of this public policy contributes to mitigating the identified social problems.
