About the Journal
The journal Páginas a&b - arquivos e bibliotecas began publication in 1997 and has been published regularly every six months. It is owned by Gabinete de Estudos a&b (a&b Research Office). Starting in 2008, editorial partnerships were established with research units at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, in 2008 with CETAC. MEDIA, then in 2014 with CIC.digital, and since 2019, the publication of the journal has been entirely the responsibility of CITCEM (Center for Transdisciplinary Research “Culture, Space, and Memory”).
Since its creation to the present, the journal has already published three series:
- 1st series (1997-2007), in which 20 issues were published in print format, which have been made available online as editions sell out;
- 2nd series (2008-2012), with 10 issues published in editorial partnership with the CETAC.MEDIA research center, which have also been made available online as the print edition sells out;
- 3rd series, in electronic format (2014 to present).
Scope and Target Audience
Páginas a&b - arquivos e bibliotecas is a peer-reviewed scientific periodical in the field of Information Science. Its main objectives are to promote and disseminate research studies in this field, targeting primarily teachers, researchers, and university students in the field of Information Science, as well as professionals working in libraries, archives, and information services in general.
Mission
The mission of Páginas a&b - arquivos e bibliotecas is to promote and disseminate high-quality scientific research that contributes to theoretical, methodological, and practical advances in the field of Information Science, valuing information management, information systems and services, documentary heritage, and the social and cultural role of institutions.
