Abstract

Eduardo Lourenço thinks about Portugal as a will and as a plural community of destinies and values, putting myths and reason into dialogue and seeking to remove the curse of backwardness. The Portuguese enigma, in short, cannot be answered or found through any simplification – sometimes idealist, sometimes sentimentalist, sometimes materialist. And only heterodoxy allows us to understand this.
