Translating Art and Artworks in Picturebooks: Interpictoriality and Experiential Meaning-Making for Young Readers
Abstract
As a popular platform for young readers, picturebooks have been used to invoke various artistic forms, enabling the development of artistic knowledge and visual literacy in children. This study examines the properties of three interpictorial picturebooks and discusses how they mediate art for children with differing levels of aesthetic awareness, framed by a discussion of interpictoriality more generally.
