Resumo

The constant use of intertextuality in contemporary novels can become a challenge for translators. This presence of intertextual borrowings builds a playful relationship between the author, who places excerpts of a different nature within his own text, and the reader, who is expected to discover and interpret them. To translate these novels and these intertextual borrowings the translator must assume a different role from the one he is traditionally expect to play: he must stop being the translator-reproducer and start being the translator-creator.
