Abstract

eTwinning is the largest
community of teachers in Europe, bringing together 45 countries and 28 languages and
providing a platform that allows all teachers and students to meet to develop ideas, to collaborate
and to do projects at a distance. Aligned with the 2030 Agenda, it promotes inclusive
education, global citizenship, cultural diversity, sustainability as well as digital skills. In
a project-based learning logic, it promotes geographic awareness, dialogue with other cultures,
the search for solutions to common problems. The analysis of eTwinning projects shows
the geographic component common to all projects contributing to the learning of concepts
in the classroom in a practical and innovative way. eTwinning also has Groups, where eTwinners
with the same interests come together, such as RURAL AREAS, the ITE Group (Initial
Teacher Education) promoted by the Central eTwinning Services or even at national level, the
Viriato Group and the ITE–PT Group. Initial Teacher Education is one of the concerns of the
European Commission, bringing together students and teachers from various universities so
that they can jointly develop projects, try out new methodologies, discuss other ways of learning
and teaching using technology. The European School Education Platform also allows access
to free online training and the publication of articles.
