Abstract

This text aims to disclose a working methodology designed to recover, catalog and
disseminate the cartographic collection of Escola Básica e Secundária Rodrigues de Freitas
(EBSRF), and the other schools that are part of its group, as well as sharing experiences (more
or less successful) that took place, over two years, to build the “Rodrigues de Freitas Map
Room”. Perseverance and improvisation were the basis of this project as everything was new
and many of the problems we faced were impossible to predict. In the same way, catalogable
materials were discovered and new working paths were opened. Gradually the map room incorporated
scientific instruments, photos, movies... In short, it is a challenging project with a
direction that is not yet certain!
