O arranque do Ensino Industrial no Porto (1884-1910)

Abstract

Na segunda  metade  do seculo XIX, Portugal conheceu  grandes  transformações em grande parte decorrentes da estabilidade politica e da evolução económica.  0 ensino industrial, como um  mecanismo  de industrialização  essencial para a formação  de profissionais  qualificados,  teve origem  nas iniciativas legislativas de 1851, mas as primeiras escolas s6 apareceram  depois de  1884. No Porto, duas escolas foram  frequentadas  par mais de 15.000 estudantes ate 1910- Faria Guimarães e Infante  D. Henrique. Este trabalho apresenta um estudo centrado nestas escolas
