In a context marked by intensifying debates on diversity and social representation, the issue of linguistic inclusion has taken a central place in contemporary discussions. Speaking of inclusion – or of the struggle against exclusion – entails a discursive repositioning that often requires rethinking the very use of language. This study analyzes the discursive strategies mobilized in social media debates on linguistic inclusion and the emerging forms of gender-neutral expression in French and Portuguese. We examine comments posted on YouTube and Instagram, drawing on the concepts of destigmatization and inclusive expression. The results reveal points of view (ways of assigning information to a discourse object) marked by the preservation of norms and by delegitimizing procedures: in French, neutral expressions are perceived as an ideological construction with no grounding in the actual use of the language; in Portuguese, they are associated with political activism rather than with an aim of defending gender equality.
